         New battery-less Blackmagic Studio Camera HD 2 not only lighter and cheaper but also easier to ship around the world.
The new Studio Camera HD version 2 are in response to customer feedback. many users stating that during live production they have no intention of relying on the battery and hook the cameras up to AC power. Therefore it makes sense for Blackmagic to provide this incredible version, especially as removing the battery brings several benefits.
 
First is price. The HD Studio Camera has now dropped $200 to $1495, while the Blackmagic Studio Camera 4K is now available at an $800 reduction of $1695. By any stretch of the imagination that is an extremely competitive price, and is one of the narrowest margins we’ve seen on UHD kit over and above HD. ‘4K for free’ isn't there yet with cameras, but it’s not far off.
 
The spec on the new camera isn’t different to the old ones, though obviously they’re going to be lighter without the internal power source. The big advantage of removing the battery though is that the cameras can now sidestep all the recent legislation regarding air transport and rechargeable units and can now be shipped via air freight for location work. Cheaper and easier.
 
With the lightweight and magnesium alloy body as one of the superiority, hence the Studio Camera HD 2 from Blackmagic Design suitable for live production. This device has features that often had on the larger model of studio cameras, such as talkback, tally indicators, XLR audio connections, 3G-SDI inputs/outputs, and even optical fiber via the optional module. On the lens, there is the 10" LCD screen with easily to remove sunshade and an active Micro Four Thirds lens mount for suitability with the wide ranges of lenses.
 
Some of the connectivities in this Studio Camera HD 2, among others, on Video, there are SDI I/O; and for Audio there are Analog I/O and SDI Audio output. In addition, there is 1 reference input and 1 Optical Fiber Compatibility with the 3G Optical Fiber I/O (via the optional optical fiber module).
 
This Studio Camera HD 2 compliance with SMPTE 292M. There is also the 1 USB 2.0 Mini-B port for updating its software. The compatibility resolutions are 720p, 1080i and 1080p with frame rates at 23.98, 24, 25, 29.97, 30, 50, 59.94, and 60.
 
You can also control this Studio Camera HD 2 from the ATEM switchers with latest firmware updates. For the power input, this unit has the standard 4-pin XLR power for external power sources.
 
Blackmagic Studio Camera is one of the most advanced broadcast cameras for live production because it includes features specifically targeted at the requirements of live production, such as large viewfinder, talkback, tally, user installable optional optical fiber and a super strong metal design.
 
Inside the incredibly tough and lightweight magnesium alloy body, the Blackmagic Studio Camera features a very large 10” viewfinder, talkback, tally indicators, phantom powered microphone connections and built in SDI connections. The Blackmagic Studio Camera includes a massive 10 inch screen that allows incredible creativity when framing and accurately focussing. The viewfinder’s LCD is extremely bright and has a very wide viewing angle so it is perfect for use even in direct sunlight. A standard 12V DC 4 pin XLR broadcast power connection is included for providing power to the camera from AC mains or third party battery packs.
 
The Blackmagic Studio Camera features an active Micro Four Thirds lens mount that is compatible with an incredibly wide range of lenses and adapters. This allows customers to use high quality photo lenses for smaller setups or fixed camera use.
 
 
The Blackmagic Studio Camera supports the tally SDI standard used on the ATEM range of live production switchers and tally lights illuminate automatically with a light on the front for talent, and a light above the viewfinder for the operator, making it easy for the cast and crew to see which cameras are on air.
